Here is a free relationship compatibility test (listed in order of importance) to help produce relationships wherein the participants are not only in harmony with each other but with all others and the environment around them:
1) What are your beliefs regarding a Higher Power or something beyond yourselves to help guide you , resolve issues as they arise, and, more than anything, help you to persevere to solve problems and stay together?
2) Do both or all parties to the proposed relationship know, love and cherish their own selves? Or, in other words, how secure and mature is each party in his or her own identity? (OK, how do we determine this?)
- How often do you put down, criticize, or show outright disdain for other individuals (friends, family members, co-workers, etc.), cultures, races, nations, and religions?
- Are you able to really listen and learn from others?
Any degree of judgmental and critical beliefs and practices are early warning signs that there may be major identity issues and unresolved guilt and insecurity issues.
(Note: Numbers 1&2 are very interrelated because one’s belief in a Higher Power should not limit one’s tolerance, understanding and respect for other’s ways and beliefs—otherwise you are really only believing in your own limitations and are projecting them upon your Higher Power.)
3) Are your goals all self-centered or are some service oriented and geared toward the common well being?
- Make short and long term goals together and ensure that there is a healthy balance of inward and outward seeking goals.
4) Your beliefs and attitudes regarding the practical considerations of money, sex, work, children, education, general interests & hobbies, etc. (Of course, these are all very related to the other three criteria listed above but in reality are of the least importance because if the other three areas are compatible then any differences in the practical considerations can be worked out.)
